RASCOM Deployed New Ciena Company’s Solution at Its Network

10.04.2018
In March, 2018 RASCOM installed Ciena’s Waveserver equipment, which doubled the Company’s network capacity on the section Moscow – St. Petersburg.

RASCOM network consists of two independent DWDM systems (there are three of them on the sector Moscow – St. Petersburg). Each system is arranged with fibers in different cables, and it allows arranging up to 88 wavelengths in such a system. After the new equipment had been installed the RASCOM network capacity increased up to 52,8 Tbps on the section Moscow – St. Petersburg.

“The Company services are much-in-demand at the Russian and international backbone market,” the RASCOM Technical Director Oleg Klimovskiy comments on, “Network load increases by 30% annually. Deployment Ciena’s Waveserver allows to increase the signal capacity transferred at one DWDM wavelength up to 200 Gbps on the section Moscow – St. Petersburg, and therefore to ensure extra-capacity of current DWDM systems that is essential due to the fact of high utilization level of wavelengths in RASCOM DWDM systems. Waveserver has a flexible architecture that allows arranging circuits with Customer interfaces of 10 Gbps, 40 Gbps or 100 Gbps.”

“Just like in many others, in our industry it is necessary to create competitive advantages in order to maintain and scale up one’s position,” the RASCOM Director General Denis Ganza comments on, “RASCOM has and it keeps sustaining a variety of significant advantages that are: global presence and high technological effectiveness of provided services, minimal that are less than 2 weeks service delivery time as well as 24h (24x7x365) quality parameters monitoring. Our Company is targeted on development and we keep searching for new perspectives. That's exactly why in March 2018 RASCOM integrated Ciena’s Waveserver solution.”

Before the end of the year 2018 RASCOM is planning to use the new generation of Waveserver Ai which ensures 200-400 Gbps capacity at one wavelength that will allow to quadruple the network capacity between Moscow and St. Petersburg as well as to increase it 2-3 times while arranging the circuits from Russia to Europe on the sections Moscow-Stockholm and St. Petersburg-Stockholm.
